This Deleted Scene From "It" Would've Changed…

Let’s be happy it was left on the cutting room floor.

If you love horror movies, or have a taste for good movies in general, you enjoyed the hell out of the most recent adaptation of It because it was equal parts hilarious and terrifying.

Mostly terrifying though, because it featured several fear-inducing scenes, much like this:

I mean, let’s be real, the movie wasted no time scaring the shit out of us when we had to watch what happened to our beloved Georgie. And this was only five minutes in!

RIP, Georgie.

This scene, of course, set the tone for the entire movie. Georgie’s death was a pivotal moment in It and had it not happened, the movie would have taken a much different course. I mean, you can’t imagine otherwise, right?

But alas, here we are. Ever wondered what it would be like if Georgie escaped from Pennywise’s grasp? Well, wonder no more! Check out this deleted scene/alternate opening from It:

After introducing himself and seeming like a true friend, Pennywise offers Georgie his boat back. As most people would tell you, this doesn’t end so well for Georgie.

Now here’s where the scene takes an incredibly different turn. Young, naive Georgie reaches out his hand for his boat and… takes it! He is able to walk away scot-free, leaving Pennywise visibly frustrated as he wasn’t able to make Georgie his newest victim.

Let that sink in for a moment. Can you imagine if this was what was shown in theaters? Not only was it not in the book, it would’ve completely changed the entire movie. Georgie would’ve made it back home and Pennywise would’ve (probably) found some other group of kids to terrorize, leaving us without scares like this…

…or this! It all would’ve been taken away from us! All because a) Georgie was too fast and b) Pennywise was too slow. As heartbreaking as this scene was, it’s vital to the course of the movie.

So, I think we can all agree, while it’s certainly interesting to see this deleted scene, it should remain just that: a deleted scene.
